With longer, warmer, and brighter days waking us up from a long winter’s hibernation, suddenly it’s April. That means 15,000 acres of fruit trees burst into a rolling sea of blossoms throughout the Hood River Valley, heralding the commencement of the annual Blossom Festival, an enthusiastic celebration of the fresh season and the beauty (and eventual bounty) it bestows upon us.
On April 19th and 20th there are more than 20 events taking place throughout the valley, including the Parkdale Fine Arts & Music Festival, the Blossom Craft Show, the Blossom Quilt Show, and the opening of dozens of family-owned fruit stands and markets all along the Fruit Loop. It’s all only 60 miles east of downtown Portland and the perfect weekend getaway.
Us at The Fruit Company will open our doors for one day only, Saturday the 19th, to show off our revamped Farmer’s Market and offer tours of the warehouse and nearby orchards. After that we close our tourism doors again until Memorial Weekend, so hurry and visit us while you can!

For the past three months about a dozen of us have been participating in the national Live Healthy America 100 Day Challenge. During that time we divided into two teams and have been competing against each other in an effort to eat healthier, exercise more, and lose weight. It’s a pretty natural correlation when you consider we work for a gourmet fruit company.
We’ve been documenting our progress on The Fruit Company Blog, complete with photos of our hilarious in-office relays and a sporadic tally of how much weight each person is losing. It’s been tremendous fun and we’re all walking around a little skinnier. Check out the blog here!

We’re happy to introduce another interactive feature from The Fruit Company: our new collection of photos on Flickr. You may recognize some from the website or catalog, while many others have never been seen by the public. You’ll find photo shoot extras, juicy behind the scenes tidbits, cute kids, one adorable puppy, and even Scott and Addison joking around. It will be growing continuously, so to become one of our contacts and check in often!

Not that March is a month of “ugli passion”, but our two exotic fruit of the month selections are as quirky as they are delicious. Looks can be deceiving!
