My husband is a huge fan of apples, so our last two dogs have been named Crispin and Pippin. Crispin apples are easy to find here, but Pippins are not--and we live in Upstate NY where it should be easier. So in honor of our Pip, I ordered a large batch of Pippins from The Fruit Company. We made a large apple pie going all out (all butter crust, blind baked, apples sliced on the mandoline to allow maximum fill of apples, and using maple syrup to sweeten the pie).
Well, not only was the pie one of our best ever, these are also excellent eating apples. We will order these again.
Jane, thank you so much for this wonderful review, and for sharing a photo of your beautiful apple pie! We loved hearing the story behind Pip and how the Newtown Pippins performed both baked and fresh. It sounds like you truly honored them with that all-butter, maple-sweetened pie. We’re thrilled they made one of your best pies ever and look forward to sending more your way!
They arrived on-time and in pristine order. The taste was superb for both the apple pie and the Christmas morning applesauce. Take that 'Granny', no one does an apple pie like Pippin :)!
Kalee, thank you for the fantastic review! We’re thrilled to hear the Newtown Pippin Apples arrived in pristine condition and shined in both apple pie and Christmas morning applesauce. We love the friendly rivalry, Pippins do make a pretty unbeatable pie! Thanks for sharing the fun (and delicious) feedback.
!I just love Pippin Apples and this is one of the few places that still offers this most flavorful apple. Thank you for supporting one of the classic apples of the past which has been replaced by the commercially produced less flavorful but looks good on the shelf green apples. Go, Pippin!
Thank you for sharing your love of Newtown Pippin apples! We’re delighted to hear how much you enjoyed them, they’re one of our favorites, too, and a true classic for incredible flavor. We’re proud to offer heritage varieties like Pippin and appreciate your support in keeping these exceptional apples part of our orchard tradition. Go, Pippin!
Can't get these in San Diego any longer? Produce people don't even know what they are, but I used to get them back a few years ago. Been looking for them every where for a few years then I found you.. I love them, very expensive buy worth it to me every so often. Prompt service, good delivery condition, dang i love them.
1 apple was mushy. The rest were excellent. However I was promised a 10% on my next order but have never received the coupon code.
